Housing Authority of Stanislaus County

The Housing Authority of the County of Stanislaus, a nonprofit, public corporation, is committed to addressing the unmet housing needs of residents and communities in our county. The Authority is governed by a citizen’s commission appointed by the County Board of Supervisors.

The following are several programs that the Housing Authority offer:

The program helps homebuyers by providing financial assistance with low a interest loan for down payment and closing costs. The maximum loan amount is $10,000.

The Home Repair Program provides the following financial assistance to eligible owner-occupants of a residence located outside the city limits. The program is designed to repair or eliminate conditions that present critical health and safety hazards and provides assistance for disabled people in making their homes more accessible.

The Housing Choice voucher program is the federal government’s major program for assisting very low-income families, the elderly, and the disabled to rent decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the open market. Since the rental assistance is provided on behalf of the family or individual, participants are able to find and lease privately owned housing, including single-family homes, townhouses and apartments. The participant is free to choose any housing that meets the requirements of the program and is not limited to units located in subsidized housing projects.
