Fictitious Business Name
To operate a business that does not include your last name, you will need a Fictitious business name statement from Stanislaus County. You will need to file a Fictitious Business Name Statement for your business if:

Other Permits and Requirements
Staff will help identify any additional permits that may be required for your business and the departments or agencies where these may be obtained (e.g., Air Pollution Control District, Regional Water Quality Control Board, Environmental Health, Sheriff’s Office, and Fire District). It is your responsibility to make sure your business has all necessary permits.
You can register online for a permit, license, or account for Sales and Use Tax and most of the Special Tax and Fee programs, with the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration.
You will answer questions regarding your business activities and the registration system will identify the permits and licenses required.
