Code Enforcement

Code Enforcement responds to concerns from citizens that affect the quality of life within the city such as zoning, overgrown lots or yards, inoperative vehicles, maintenance of structures, illegal signs and public nuisances.

It is the mission of the Code Enforcement Division of the City of Waterford to work in partnership with the people of Waterford to promote and maintain a safe and desirable living and working environment, and administer a fair and unbiased enforcement program to correct violations of municipal codes and land use requirements.

Vacant Building Registration

The city has a history and reputation for well-kept properties; and property values and the general welfare of the community are founded, in part, upon the appearance and maintenance of private properties. The purpose of the vacant building registration is to promote the health, safety, economic, aesthetic and general welfare of the citizens of the city, and to protect neighborhoods against nuisances, blight and deterioration by establishing requirements for all building exteriors, whether residential or nonresidential, or structures of whatever kind, and establishing requirements for the maintenance of all land, whether improved or vacant.

There is hereby imposed upon every owner of a vacant building an annual vacant building monitoring fee in an amount to be set by resolution of the City Council.  Please fill out both forms below and return to City Hall with the required fees if you fall under this category or have been notified by the Code Enforcement Officer.
